Among this season’s standout collections were Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, and Vera Wang, but a number of other designers, including Badgley Mischka, Amy Kuschel, Jenny Packham, and Elizabeth Fillmore, showed stellar line-ups as well.
For Spring 2011, we’re seeing a lot of variety in length—it’s not just about the puffy princess dresses anymore.
Marchesa presented a variety of beautiful mini-skirted options that would work wonderfully for a beach wedding or as a party dress for a bride to change into after walking down the aisle.
Simple silhouettes were, for the most part, accented with intricate detailing like feathers, tulle, long tails, bows, rose petals, pearls, embroidery, lace, and hues beyond white and ivory (think pale pink).
It’s worth noting that cap sleeves and one shoulder dresses were significantly more prominent in the Spring 2011 collections than the strapless style designers have favored during seasons past. There were also a number of svelte alternatives to full skirts, along with options that belted at the waist.
As for major embellishment trends, rose petals, fabric roses, and ruffles were everywhere. Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, and Badgley Mischka incorporated these details best, creating mesmerizingly beautiful looks that brides will surely be clamoring for when they hit stores.
