Taking over where Estrella Archs and her artistic advisor Lindsey Lohan took off (so hard to write that without laughing), Deacon will show his first collection for the French brand this October in Paris with a presentation.
In all likelihood, there won’t be an Emanuel Ungaro runway presentation until Deacon’s third season with the label, as the designer hopes to get a good feel for the brand first.
Deacon has shown his GILES line in Paris during the past two seasons, and will continue to design his award-winning namesake collection, as well as continue his work with high street retailer New Look. Though the pairing of Deacon and Ungaro seeks unlikely, Deacon’s unique perspective should help garner back some of the respect that the once-famed couture house has lost these past few seasons.
The designer remarked that he does not want to infringe upon his own line, “but I like things that are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design are what I’m going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman.”
Can we expect pasties and hearts? Umm, probably not.
