Vivienne Tam Fall 2011 Runway Review

It may be a collection mostly comprised of black, but this doesn’t mean the designs are simple. Vivienne Tam’s Fall 2011 collection was all about the little details. The vintage-inspired line featured lace appliqué, fringe hems and shimmering fabrications. Tam’s signature straight silhouettes and kimono dresses were shown in cool tweeds and intricate silk prints for an updated twist on her classic style.

A few key looks included wool, circle skirts, and soft silk blouses in neutral shades. A plaid skirt and matching jacket with a slight ombre effect were perfect for the young business woman on the go.

Shoulder details were also emphasized in tweed dresses and cropped jackets. Layer upon layer of black and gray were the main focus and overall theme of the collection. The colors and textures were slightly off creating a look that’s monochromatic with slight variation. Overall, the dark colors and little feminine details of the collection have a romantic, vintage feel that would work for both day and night.
