Every Fourth of July, designer Rebecca Taylor leaves New York City and heads to her family home on Shelter Island, NY. With a relaxed, eclectic decor, the easygoing atmosphere is the perfect place to unwind with family and friends for the weekend. Entertaining comes naturally to Taylor and her methods are as stylishly laid-back as the clothing for which she’s known. Her key to throwing the perfect backyard party? “Don’t overthink it, spontaneity is part of the fun,” she tells us. “Don’t worry too much about the decorations. It’s important to surround yourself with great people, good food and wine.”

"I like to have a beautiful tablescape, but it doesn't need to look perfect. I actually prefer a bit of an undone vibe," says Taylor. When it comes to food, Taylor likes to give guests the option to bring an appetizer or drink of their choice as "it creates a more eclectic menu for everyone."
