To say Chioma Nnadi hasn’t been cutting it as Head of Editorial Content at British Vogue would be an understatement. An understatement of rather epic proportions. Despite pulling in big-name cover stars like FKA Twigs, Zendaya, Kylie Jenner, and Florence Pugh, the magazine’s front covers over recent months have been… somewhat questionable. Nnadi, now with a total of nine issues under her belt, tapped SZA as a British Vogue cover star for December 2024. The American singer and songwriter poses before the lens of photographer Nadine Ijewere, as the magazine’s final cover star of 2024. Throughout the cover shoot, SZA was styled by Julia Sarr-Jamois, SZA bundles up in a lime green knit from Seán McGir’s debut Alexander McQueen Fall 2024 collection.

“The photography is nothing special. Very generic. It looks like a catalog shot from an email newsletter,” GivenchyHomme critiqued upon checking out the cover.
“Why does this edition have to be sooo bland,” blueorchid chimed in.
“Another month, another cover, another prominent display of Chioma Nnadi sucking the life out of British Vogue. This is the best the team could produce for readers over the holiday season? guess the Alexander McQueen piece is Grinch green? I feel so majorly underwhelmed by this,” voiced vogue28.
Also left disappointed was forum member upNorth. “Why does no one try? Who is asking for this non-event?” they asked.
“Why is this so muted? That grey background has no business being in an end-of-year cover,” noted Drusilla.
“The cover gives nothing especially for a December issue, but I am just so happy that SZA finally gets a Vogue cover,” confessed crmsn.
