Emily Ratajkowski Brings a Sense of Retro Chic to the Cover of ELLE France

You’re undoubtedly fully aware that here at theFashionSpot we live for ELLE France. Week after week, issue after issue, cover after cover, the French fashion weekly delivers the goods. Over recent months alone, the magazine has forced us to make a mad dash to our local newsstands for cover starring the likes of Toni Garrn, Deva Cassell, Luna Bijl, and Rebecca Leigh Longendyke. Véronique Philipponnat secures Emily Ratajkowski as cover girl, with the unveiling of the September 19th edition of ELLE France. The American actress and model is put before the lens of photographer Nathaniel Goldberg for the occasion. In the monochromatic cover image, Ratajkowski is decked out in a matching jacket and skirt from Celine by Hedi Slimane, as chosen by cover shoot stylist Hortense Manga.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I’m not here for Emily Ratajkowski. She could go and take with her Gigi, Bella, Kendall, Amelia, Kaia and so many others!” voiced DK92 the moment the cover struck.

“I mostly dislike the idea of a ‘famous’ model because it’s cringe, but Emily Ratajkowski undoubtedly photographs well,” reasoned GoldenPetals.

Urban Stylin noted: “This is actually a decent cover. Expression could have been better but it still is chic and well composed.”

“Not one for Ratajkowski but she looks great on the cover. Love Celine by Hedi Slimane on her,” enthused forum member MModa.

Also a fan was Srdjan, commenting: “I don’t mind this cover at all! It’s giving that clichéd interpretation of a naughty Lolita-type school girl, but with a fashionable note. The jacket is great!”

“It’s just so sleek, monochromatic, slightly moody, and retro chic that I find it hard to criticize. Never minded Emily Ratajkowski, always been a one for Nathaniel Goldberg and I love that Celine look,” echoed vogue28.
