We Ask: Who Approved This October 2024 Cover of GQ Starring Beyoncé?

Beyoncé ain’t no stranger down at the newsstand. After all, the global superstar has fronted just about every major fashion publication on the planet – from American and British Vogue to Harper’s Bazaar and CR Fashion Book. More recently, the much-adored American singer-songwriter took to W Magazine for the title’s inaugural digital edition and due to high demand, W was forced into printing a limited number of copies. GQ sure is hoping for a sales boost this month, welcoming Beyoncé onto the October 2024 issue (of multiple editions of GQ from across the globe). Bryce Anderson is enlisted as cover shoot photographer, complete with Katie Grand reporting for styling duties. Rocking a Miu Miu LBD, Beyoncé vamps is up in the kitsch cover shot, sporting voluminous hair and dripping in Graff jewelry.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“WHAT IN THE WORLD! The hair, OMG!” exclaimed matheus_s the moment the cover struck.

“How was this approved?” asked blueorchid.

“One of the tackiest mainstream covers I have ever seen. You can always count on Beyoncé to lower the bar,” critiqued forum member SanderGreen.

Also majorly underwhelmed was Gary89, adding: “It is amazing how vulgar and arrogant Beyoncé has become as her solo career progressed. She actually had some nice covers back at the beginning of her solo career like W, ELLE and Allure. It shows what happens when creative control is lost to the subject and a weak team is used.”

“The persona Beyoncé created feels tired at this point. She has always been tacky but back in the day it felt genuine. Now everything she does is contrived and serious,” voiced avonlea002.

“I do love me some gaudy glamour. However, even for my liking, this feels a very over-produced and very poorly executed,” vogue28 confessed.

DK92 described the end result as “tragic” but do you share the same sentiments?
