At British Harper’s Bazaar, Lydia Slater has been pretty good to us when selecting the magazine’s cover stars. Throughout 2024, Slater has been able to rank the likes of Sienna Miller, Jourdan Dunn, Nicola Coughlan, Léa Seydoux, Maisie Williams and Julianne Moore as cover accomplishments. Slater (who became EIC in 2020) pulls out the big guns for the title’s all-important September issue, enlisting none other than Kate Winslet as cover star. The revered British actress who stars as Lee Miller in the upcoming war drama Lee, makes a return to the magazine’s front cover, several years after her last. Winslet is reunited with Alexi Lubomirski (who also captured Kate for the March 2015 cover), and poses in Prada in the cover shot, compete with styling from Miranda Almond.

“It’s like one of those nice but unremarkable shoots that you could get in any mid-level women’s magazine.
“So weird having had Kate Winslet on the US Vogue October 2023 cover promoting the same film and then this a year later. The images are super meh,” critiqued Kite.
“It’s not that bad, but I feel that I’ve seen this cover just a few months ago,” said Ivancica.
WAVES wasn’t to impressed either. “Very weak. Main editorial and cover included. Such a shame, because I love Kate Winslet so much!”
Yet not everyone, however, was left so completely unsatisfied. “It’s just one of those quintessential British Harper’s Bazaar covers that I would find hard to complain over. Kate Winslet feels perfect for a big month like September. I love the fact she’s reunited with Alexi Lubomirski (whose work I miss for UK Bazaar). The colors are lovely,” confessed vogue28.
