We admit Town & Country doesn’t command our attention with every passing issue. The last time the Hearst-owned American lifestyle magazine truly took our fancy was all the way back in November 2023, when the ever-gorgeous Charlize Theron was enlisted as cover girl. T&C has the undivided attention of theFashionSpot’s forum members once again (perhaps for all the wrong reasons) with its September 2024 offering. Stellene Volandes welcomes Katie Holmes as cover girl, who poses for photographer Ruven Afanador. The American actress (who is set to star in Our Town on Broadway this fall) shoots a smile down Afanador’s lens in the portrait cover photograph. Styled by Bernat Buscato, Holmes is dressed in embroidered Louis Vuitton and adorned with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

“AWFUL. The cover looks like it smells,” exclaimed a far from impressed mepps the moment the cover struck.
“A rare miss for Town & Country, which usually has fun, lively covers. This is terrible,” noted NYLA22.
“They can’t be serious with this shot! WHAT ATROCITY IS THAT! And I thought Winona Ryder‘s Harper’s Bazaar cover was the lowest of the low,” Bertrando3 exclaimed.
Also far from impressed was TomBlanksFullFatMiuMiu, commenting: “Hate the hair on Katie Holmes in the cover but I hate the nose ring even more.”
“She looks like she got wasted and started playing with someone’s wigs,” cried out VogueDisciple93.
Vogue28 voiced: “Absolutely horrible hair, which looks very wig-like, heavy and overpowers the cover image overall. The colors are nice, as is the styling but I do hate the angle from Ruven Afanador (who usually knocks it out of the park with his portraits).”
