OK, we can admit that Allure doesn’t hit like it once used to. The last time the beauty-focused title truly commanded our attention was right at the tail end of 2023, when Victoria Beckham was made cover star. However, given the fact we here at theFashionSpot are always down for being greeted by anyone but the expected down at the newsstand, Allure‘s latest had our undivided attention. Jessica Cruel invites Shakira as the title’s April 2024 cover star, who after decades in the business, only became a Vogue cover girl back in 2021 – much to the delight of our forum members. Photographer Emmanuel Monsalve was commissioned to profile Shakira for Allure, with Shibon Kennedy reporting for styling duties, who opted for a black and crystal-embellished dress from the Spring 2024 collection of Christian Cowan for the Colombian songstress to work in the cover photograph.

“It is a beautiful cover,” admired Urban Stylin. “The styling and colors make it. I wish Shakira’s expression was a little different but it still works.”
Also immediately smitten was vogue28: “Most definitely one of the better Allure covers I’ve seen over the years. I would honestly take this as a cover of some edition of Vogue. In all honesty, this is such a strong cover and I love everything about it. A little Beyoncé with the styling and far superior to anything Beyoncé has delivered us over recent years…”

Nevertheless, not everyone was sold. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Shakira has the same problem as Sofia Vergara – beautiful women who are not photogenic,” dispelled DK92.
“Used to love Allure, but I just can’t get interested in digital covers,” voiced tigerrouge.
