We’ve started to loose count of how many times Irina Shayk has graced the cover of Vogue. Subsequent to the Russian beauty’s very first in 2013 for Vogue Spain, the industry fave has covered editions of Vogue from around the world including the likes of Vogue Turkey, Vogue Mexico, Vogue Japan, Vogue Arabia, Vogue Germany and Vogue Thailand – often on more than one occasion. Added to Shayk’s impressive rooster of magazine cover appearances this month, is Vogue Netherlands. Captured in sharp black and white on location within a back alley in New York City, Irina is reunited with photographic duo Luigi & Iango. Styled by Dutch Vogue‘s fashion director Linda Gumus Gerritsen, Irina poses in a mashup of pieces from Givenchy, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Wolford and Orlov jewelry in the strong and commanding April 2024 cover shot.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“A standard Luigi & Iango studio portrait would’ve sufficed. The names involved got me very excited, but the result leaves me cold. It would work fine as an editorial image, but a cover it is not,” critiqued aracic.
“There is too much going on around Shayk. The setting is unappealing and distracting,” MModa chimed in.
Ivano said: “Old Vogue Italia in a bad day. Reminds me of to the early [Emanuele] Farneti covers.”
“What a suffocating cover! Just awful!” shrieked an unimpressed Srdjan.
Also quick to disapprove of the end result was Simera, commenting: “Irina is one of my all-time favorite models ever, but this isn’t it.”
“I love Irina Shayk, I love Luigi & Iango and I love them together. However, the outcome here leaves a whole lot to be desired. The cover image is far too busy and I’m not overly fond of Irina’s pose,” added vogue28.
