Following the bombshell of Anna Wintour dropping an actual cover of American Vogue featuring someone who had never graced the cover before (in the form of Nicki Minaj) just last month, the editor subsequently leans on an old favorite for the magazine’s first issue of 2024: Sienna Miller. Returning to the American fashion bible’s front cover for a fifth time (Miller’s last was back in January 2015), the pregnant British-American actress poses for famed photographer and Vogue regular Annie Leibovitz on Vogue’s Winter 2024 installment. The team traveled to Long Island, New York for the cover shoot, with Sienna posing down on the beach in the crisp and refreshing cover shot, dressed in a cashmere sweater from Gabriela Hearst, as chosen for the occasion by stylist Tabitha Simmons.
Members of our forums, however, weren’t so smitten. “Sienna Miller on a Vogue cover? What year is it? 2007?” Serend1pity immediately asked.
“Never understood her appeal or relevance. I also find this picture really awful. What’s the fashion story here? It looks like some random gossip magazine situation,” critiqued Norden.
“People Magazine at best!” DK92 echoed.
“Wow, a real definition of ‘started from the bottom’. Way to go, 2024!” expressed a far from impressed forum member crmsn.
Kikifoz wasn’t too overjoyed either, commenting: “Sienna Miller wearing Gabriela Hearst styled by Tabitha Simmons. What a bleak statement.”
“…Meanwhile, I’m sitting here loving it!” defended vogue28. “I like how cold and fresh the cover image feels, which is very appropriate for a winter issue, IMO. A total breath of fresh air, and I need not mention how much I adore Sienna Miller on the cover of Vogue!”
“I can’t lie, I love seeing one of Anna’s old favorites on the cover again. It’s great that Vogue has expanded its pool of cover stars in recent years, but there’s something really comforting seeing a Sienna or an SJP back on the cover again,” LastNight chimed in.
