Throughout 2021, Allure simply wasn’t the magazine for us. (With the exception of covers featuring Jennifer Lopez and Pat McGrath.) Not even covers starring Alicia Keys, Normani, Ariana Grande or Barbie Ferreira were enough to pull the publication out of its slump. Now that Jessica Cruel is at the helm, we’re hopeful about the mag’s future. This month’s offering is fronted by none other than music royalty Janet Jackson. For February 2022, the icon is decked out in Rick Owens courtesy of stylist Patti Wilson in the striking image captured by Tom Munro.
For the majority of our forum members, the end result proved to be a feast for the eyes. “Happy to see Janet!” applauded KINGofVERSAILLES.
“Can’t go wrong with a legend like Janet!” proclaimed [Piece Of Me].
“I like the direction they took for her, she looks otherworldly,” added FashionMuseDior.

VogueGirl8910 shared the same sentiment: “Nice to see her again…I think the result is fine with the theme of the modern Egyptian queen in a futuristic way.”
“Love it, very true to brand and glad to see her covering magazines again,” said Urban Stylin.
But not everyone was feeling it. “Tom Munro is amazing when he wants to be, but the effort here is mediocre. Janet looks absolutely mummified and frozen. The Dune styling is doing her no favors,” an underwhelmed mepps pointed out.
“It’s a resounding NO from me… Everything looks amateur and despite the presence of someone of Janet Jackson’s stature, this feels like a total nonevent,” critiqued vogue28.
