Regina King Rocks Balenciaga on Vanity Fair’s October 2021 Cover

We’re obviously big fans of Regina King and love seeing her at newsstands. Her covers of Marie Claire, WSJ. Magazine, InStyle and Vogue Greece have mostly been declared triumphs. Now Vanity Fair profiles the Oscar-winning actress and director for October 2021. For the striking image snapped by Jackie Nickerson, Regina wears a showstopping Balenciaga Spring 2022 creation chosen by Nicole Martine Chapoteau.

“What a terrible cover. Bad styling, color scheme and pose. Regina’s interesting and usually photographs beautifully, but nothing works here,” wrote mepps.

“If this had been by Mario Testino and stylist Jessica Diehl, we would have had a glamorous editorial, magnificent photos and an equally sensational cover!” declared Ivanity86.

“What a waste of Regina who has so much beauty and presence on camera,” added dodencebt.

“This magazine is so lost… Who would run a cover with this composition, color, photography — everything?” wondered Benn98.

LastNight clearly disagreed: “What a shame she doesn’t have much energy in the shot because the setup is very striking — the pink and red combination really works for me. A more dramatic pose would have been great…”

“Must admit that this immediately grabbed my attention on the shelves at the newsstand! The combination of the pink backdrop, red Vanity Fair masthead and the overall composition of the cover was very eye-catching,” confessed vogue28.
