Italia definitely wasn’t on our must-read list last year. Mainly because the mag supplied a CGI cover star, covers drawn by children and 100 covers for its September issue. We thought the gimmicks were beginning to fade with recent Lila Moss and Hailey and Justin Bieber offerings. But we were wrong. Kicking off the new year in true Emanuele Farneti fashion, the mag dedicates its January 2021 edition to animals with a selection of seven covers by Johnny Dufort, Heji Shin, Tschabalala Self, Andres Serrano along with Alessandra Sanguinetti.
“TRAGIC,” declared slayage the second the covers dropped.
“This team at Vogue Italia always manages to find one worse theme after another. Kudos for that,” added GivenchyAddict.
“Can we just sign a petition to get this clueless man out of Vogue Italia? No kidding,” commented helmutnotdead.

Srdjan obviously isn’t a Farneti fan, either. “This man makes me furious. How he’s ruining a title is just beyond belief. I stopped comparing Franca Sozzani‘s Vogue and his Vogue a long time ago, they are two separate magazines, but the issue is that his Vogue is so ugly, foolish, disrespectful and far from everything a Vogue should be.”
“This is terrifying and just so bad! I have no words, this is a new low for them. Oh how I miss the days when Vogue Italia was cinematic and amazing,” proclaimed Mercury6181.
“I can’t stop laughing, I can’t stop crying, I can’t stop wondering how Vogue Italia has gotten to this point,” shared bluestar.
“The Animal Issue? Wow, I’m appalled. Farneti is at least consistent in giving us the most horrendous covers the world has seen. This magazine has truly become a parody of itself,” stated Style Savvy.
