Ever since Samira Nasr was announced as Glenda Bailey’s replacement at Harper’s Bazaar, we’ve been expecting great things from the glossy. But covers featuring Sarah Paulson, Liya Kebede and Vanessa Kirby over recent months have not sufficed. Now Awkwafina makes her U.S. Bazaar cover debut for February 2021. The actress poses as the sun sets on Malibu wearing a dress from Giorgio Armani’s Spring 2021 collection and a Gucci hat (both chosen by stylist Yashua Simmons) for the cover image captured by Ryan McGinley.
Bazaar‘s latest divided our forum members. “How is this a cover image? Like what is that styling, the creative direction and concept?” questioned Fiercification.
“This angle and styling just don’t do it for me as happy as I am that Awkwafina got the cover. I’m sad to say that so far I haven’t been impressed by Samira’s Bazaar,” added dodencebt.
“All sorts of awful and at this rate I am officially frightened for the future of American Harper’s Bazaar under Samira Nasr. A number of months in and Nasr is yet to break new ground. What’s the hold up?” asked a dumbfounded vogue28.

“That pose and non-expression on her face…sorry, but it doesn’t excite me in the least,” declared annikad.
“At least this one’s better than her Vogue Australia cover. I kinda like it,” defended crmsnsnwflks.
Forum member dfl-001 shared the same sentiment: “Awkwafina! Thank the heavens it’s not another disposable Gwyneth Paltrow or Jennifer Lopez cover. Much better than the cheap, gaudy U.S. Bazaar we’ve had for the past 10 years.”
“Wow. Harper’s Bazaar has been on a roll since the new editor, amazing cover choices and brilliant results. This is SO much better than anything Bazaar produced in the last few years,” echoed [Piece Of Me].
