The First Prada Campaign From the Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons Era Feels Like a Huge Setback

Miuccia Prada announced Raf Simons as co-creative director of Prada back in 2020 and the partnership has been a topic of conversation on our forums ever since. Following the duo’s highly-anticipated Spring 2021 debut during Milan Fashion Week, the collection’s advertising campaign just dropped leaving us with questions that need to be answered. After a flawless Holiday 2020 campaign lensed by Steven Meisel, Miuccia and Raf don’t opt for a big-name photographer this time around. Instead, the pair relies on Ferdinando Verderi and a system of cameras to capture models like Isa Gustafsson and Dija Kallon from different angles.

According to our forum members, Prada’s latest feels like a huge setback. “NO! After their holiday campaign, why this?” asked kokobombon.

“This reeks of Raf…such a pity. I had high hopes after that holiday campaign,” echoed aracic.

HFBvrg definitely agreed: “I thought this was a joke or some kind of Instagram project… So disappointed after a wonderful holiday campaign…”

“I’d like to think that the holiday campaign was a signal of change as well, but knowing Raf, I also had my reservations. This campaign proves that he’s still not to be trusted,” Ken Doll Jenner chimed in.

“I’m already tired of Raf’s impact at Prada. As usual, super pretentious and full of fake intellectualism…” voiced Lola701.

YohjiAddict was also underwhelmed. “Very stale, a couple of nice shots, but for Prada it’s just so cold and sterile. Prada celebrates life, femininity and a certain joie de vivre.”

“This actually looks like a meme,” Nomar pointed out.
