Italia simply isn’t the magazine it once was. Long gone are the days when Steven Meisel photographed every cover. Recent covers of the Italian fashion bible featuring Anok Yai, Amber Valletta and Freja Beha Erichsen haven’t appealed to our forum members and the title’s offering for June 2019 also failed to get positive reviews. Marking Giovanni Bianco‘s last issue as creative director, Lana Del Rey makes her Vogue Italia debut on a trio of covers photographed by Steven Klein and styled by Arianne Phillips.
Needless to say, our forum members weren’t feeling it. “This is terrible. I genuinely hate everything about this — the pose, the styling, the setting and as for the insipid cover line…why is her expression so listless? It doesn’t match her pose in the slightest,” testified 333101.
“Steven Klein should be banned after this. OMG, it’s so terrible that I can’t even describe,” disapproved luchang732.

“Terrible cover. I’m no fan of Lana, but surely they could’ve come up with something else,” liv4beauty chimed in.
In total agreement over how lackluster everything looked was RanThe: “Since Franca [Sozzani] passed there has been maybe four covers that were good. But month after month it gets worse. Hiring Steven Klein also hasn’t helped. His covers all look the same, just in different rooms.”
“How underwhelming and what a waste of Lana,” voiced Nomar.
MON wasn’t happy, either. “Farneti is a joke. This magazine is a joke. The team is just relying on the former glory of the magazine. Vision: just play safe, we’re Italian Vogue anyway. Really happy that this is the last issue of GB. Can’t believe he was entrusted with this task to begin with. Farneti should go next.”
“I sure do wish Farneti would inject some of that former glory into the current Vogue Italia because this is an absolute embarrassment. Lana Del Rey on the cover of any magazine feels so… 2010,” confessed vogue28.
