Question: What do you think makes the perfect magazine cover? Answer: A striking cover shot, minimal cover lines and a stimulating subject. Vogue Korea certainly ticks all the boxes this month with Cara Delevingne, following a triumphant Anok Yai offering back in March. Photographed by Jooyoung Ahn, the Brit model-turned-actress delivers a stark and striking portrait for May 2019, only complemented further by a vibrant pink Vogue masthead and the essential cover lines. Cara represents her Christian Dior ambassadorship with a face full of Dior cosmetics in the beauty-focused shot.
A select few of our forum members weren’t so overjoyed. “No, C.D. is for Christian Dior! God, this whole advertorial thing is getting crazier by the minute. I like the text on the side, but nothing else really. Looks too much like a campaign,” complained Benn98.
“Why is she suddenly back modeling? I thought she quit for good. It looks more like a cosmetic campaign rather than a cover, but Cara looks good,” added Lax89.
“Well, it would make a great campaign for Dior cosmetics,” Nomar confessed.

“This is gorgeous, I don’t care how Dior advertising campaign it looks. Most spokespeople get covers backed by brands, so nothing new about that. Still, it’s a beautiful cover that will look great in print!” Miss Dalloway raved.
Also full of praise was vogue28: “This is easily the best work Cara’s produced since the cover of British Vogue by Steven Meisel. The vibrant pink Vogue masthead works wonderfully with the lip, the lighting and starkness of the whole shot. A total thumbs up from me!”
“I love it! Thinking of all the celebrities who get covers only because they are ‘brand ambassadors’ and churn out banal crap; it’s good to see a model who knows how to do the job,” voiced dfl-001.
