Karl Lagerfeld has received his fair share of critique from our forums over recent months, whether he’s making Kaia Gerber look like a soccer mom in his namesake label’s campaign, collaborating with Nicki Minaj for the cover of ELLE or having Adwoa Aboah channel her inner Gabrielle Chanel for the brand’s eyewear campaign. Yet Lagerfeld’s latest Chanel campaign for Fall 2018 appears to be a hit with our hard-to-impress members. Joined in the studio by a handful of diverse models — Yoon Young Bae, Luna Bijl, Adesuwa Aighewi, Vittoria Ceretti, Hoyeon Jung, Grace Elizabeth and Nina Marker —and stylist Carine Roitfeld, his latest effort is chic and straightforward.
Members of our forums liked what they saw upon first look. “Love what I’m seeing so far!” declared bluebanter.
“Love this campaign… a departure from the usual Chanel campaigns a bit and I like the diversity of the cast too!” Zposen said.
“Karl shot this? I’m surprised because I love it,” remarked Elite13.

Also left pleasantly surprised by the outcome was gazebo:“I love everything about it. It’s classic, straight to the point, chic and beautiful – what Chanel should look like!”
“I like what I’ve seen so far. It’s clean and beautiful,” added elle_gb.
“I am just soooo glad it’s not some nepotism model, some Insta model, or some celeb that can’t even model. This ad just shows how real models can elevate the clothes,” admired simon.
But not everyone was sold. “Feels appropriately to the point for such a great collection, although I would’ve appreciated a lighter studio backdrop here as the shade of grey-brown makes the images look a bit heavy,” pointed out Fiercification.
“Boring boring boring as everything shot by Karl basically,” said an unimpressed apple.
