Vogue Russia August 2018 : Faretta by Olivier Zahm

Faretta Does 70s Glam on Vogue Russia’s August Cover

We were beginning to feel as though Masha Fedorova‘s tenure at Vogue Russia was taking a turn for the worse given the magazine’s questionable covers featuring Natalia Vodianova and Lily-Rose Depp from the past two months. Yet with the unveiling of the August 2018 issue, there’s light at the end of the tunnel as the title serves up a high-glam cover featuring Croatian model Faretta (on the heels of her Vogue Japan cover). Photographed by Olivier Zahm, Faretta serves major 70s glam in Tom Ford, with hair that could rival Jerry Hall’s and a bold red lip.

The cover received mixed reviews from our forum members. “Not a fan of the concept and the green color but happy for Farreta’s third and first solo Vogue cover,” said zacatecas570 the moment the cover dropped.

“The sex kitten pose looks great, but styling is an eyesore. It seems Zahm is much better when he’s confined to the commercial Vogue Russia than his own magazine. Also, it’s a winner for Faretta, who can be rather hit and miss with her covers,” noted Benn98.

“She looks good but I don’t like what she’s wearing,” voiced Sensation.

Tigerrouge weighed in, saying, “I’d buy this, but in an ideal world, I’d want it to be all red. Green’s a bit strange, but in a magazine world starved of any sort of glamour, I’ll take what I can get!”

“It looks a little cheap, and yet I somehow like it? It shouldn’t work but somehow does,” said forum member 333101.

GivenchyHomme was quick to describe the cover as “fabulous!”

“Faretta is serving face! I really like it too. I like the idea of all green. There’s something suggestive about the whole thing. Think it’s well executed,” simon approved.
