Emma Watson Appears on Interview’s ‘Gloomy-in-the-Springtime’ May Cover

has been gaining our attention in 2017 more than usual with a powerful Solange Knowles cover for February and the ever-beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer as its cover star for April. After a recent stint on both Vanity Fair and British ELLE, Emma Watson makes a return to Interview‘s front cover for May 2017. Posing for master photographer Peter Lindbergh on location in Paris, Emma looks effortless and at ease in the raw black and white cover photo wearing Louis Vuitton.

But our forum members were let down by Interview‘s latest cover. “Lindbergh’s portraits of supermodels work because we become so used to seeing them in their ‘perfected form’ that an unairbrushed shot makes you stop and realize these beautiful women are real (and no less beautiful for that). To me, Emma always looks nicely ordinary, so it’s not really a treat to see her looking ordinary again, just with an extra helping of freckles. It’s nice, but it’s not a new dimension,” said tigerrouge after the cover surfaced.

“I agree it doesn’t work here. The problem is that it all comes off so ordinarily gloomy with no atmosphere: underexposed and with no effort to transport the reader away from ordinary Emma. I usually enjoy it when Interview does these gloomy-in-the-springtime shoots, but they’re usually quite hauntingly glamorous and lush,” Phuel chimed in.

Echoing the same sentiments was kewkaw: “Only good actors can deliver on Lindbergh’s photography. Emma seems bland for this issue. It doesn’t look bad but not as good as it should be!”

“This is way too uninspired by Interview standards,” said an underwhelmed A.D.C.

GivenchyHomme wasn’t exactly jumping for joy either. “Anyone else tired of her? She is just one actress I have absolutely ZERO interest in. Luckily the rest of the magazine is good, I’ll just have to flip right past her,” he noted.
