Our forum members were left divided in their opinions. “Opium adverts just keep on getting worse. This looks like a junkie collapsed in a back alley on a bunch of rags after inhaling from a stolen aerosol, not a woman on a hedonistic (and expensive) journey of the senses,” exclaimed a more than underwhelmed tigerrouge the moment the image dropped.
“We can’t even see her face. I wouldn’t have known it was her,” added khyrk in agreement.
Also not feeling the shot was Wolkfolk, announcing, “Nothing will ever top Sophie Dahl‘s ad. This is way too forced.”
“Nothing beats Karen Elson‘s ad,” madzedre declared.
“I was excited to see this but WTF??? It’s an identity crisis. They have Saint Laurent with Hedi [Slimane], but all the rest is YSL, but they try to make it a little Hedi to be coherent. The result is neither here nor there. Lackluster and cheap,” contributed a disenchanted gazebo.
“I expect ecstasy with Opium and Abbey Lee’s giving it to me. The dark colors make it sumptuous as well,” raved Aedlacir, shedding some light on the image.
“Abbey is a perfect choice for YSL,” agreed narcyza.
