Anna Dello Russo Borrows from the Boys in Milan (Forum Buzz)

Editor At Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo, has never been a wallflower when it comes to fashion and is known for donning attention-grabbing looks right off the runway – often with micro-mini hemlines. This week, at the Autumn/Winter 2011 menswear shows in Milan, Dello Russo turned heads as usual, taking her cues from the boys wearing statement-making tuxedos, complete with bow ties and the occasional top hat.

Among Dello Russo’s many takes on menswear this week was a sleek black tuxedo from DSquared‘s Spring/Summer 2011 collection, and a sharp shouldered Balmain jacket with gold buttons paired with a pink gingham bow tie, accessorized with a bold Prada Spring/Summer 2011 fox fur stole that got tFS forum members talking. Mikeijames commented that “people wondered how women would wear those neon fox stoles at Prada,” to which kingchic responded: “Exactly. This is how its done. I gasped at first glance.” ilaughead agreed: “Naturally [Anna Dello Russo would] be the one to pull one off perfectly.”

Dello Russo displayed her take on white tie attire in this Comme des Garcons and Dior Homme ensemble with a top hat and sash fit for royalty at the Fendi O’ party on January 17. She wore Comme des Garcons again (this time with a silver bow-tie and pink cummerbund) while strolling the streets of Milan with Vogue Nippon colleague Viviana Volpicella.

The Vogue Nippon team of Volpicella and Aurora Sansone flanked Dello Russo as she, once again, sported Balmain and Dior Homme. Forum member FashionPower thought “she looks amazing in that jacket.” At the Prada show, Dello Russo ditched her requisite heels and complemented the style of her Yohji Yamamoto suit with a pair of decidedly more masculine Church’s shoes.

Will Dello Russo continue with this streak of menswear-inspired looks in Paris? Only time will tell, but I’m guessing she’s already missing her miniskirts.
