Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Met Gala Theme…

Vogue and The Metropolitan Museum of Art are getting us hyped for May 2025. Today, the pair announced the 2025 Met Gala theme for the Spring 2025 exhibit. Drum roll, please… for: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

The anticipated show is expected to examine “the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.” The exhibit curated by Andrew Bolton will focus exclusively on menswear – the first since 2003. Monica Miller (Professor and Chair of Africana Studies at Barnard College, Columbia University) will serve as guest curator, as Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity served as inspiration. The exhibition will centre around the theme of Black Dandyism. The concept points to a style of dress adopted by enslaved Black men in the Americas and Europe during the 18th century to present day.

The “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit will run from May 10 until October 26, 2025. The 2025 Met Gala event will take place May 5.

Joining Anna Wintour as co-chairs for the 2025 Met Gala are Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and A$AP Rocky. Lebron James will act as honorary co-chair. Tyler Mitchell will photograph the accompanying catalogue.
