In an interview with Elle, the model opened up about the product’s benefits and how it can also be applied to various parts of the body. The Rhode Barrier Butter will launch on October 28 and costs $22 to $38 depending on its size. The product, which has been introduced as the final step in the nighttime skincare routine, is the brand’s take on “slugging,” or the practice of applying a product before bed to lock in the moisture throughout the night.
Other Rhode products include Glazing Milk, Pineapple Refresh, Barrier Restore Cream, and more. Meanwhile, individuals interested in Barrier Butter can join the waitlist and buy the product after launch from the brand’s website.
Hailey Bieber on Rhode Barrier Butter: ‘Wanted it to be safe for acne-prone skin’
Hailey Bieber recently spoke with Elle about her brand Rhode’s new product — Barrier Butter. She revealed that the inspiration behind the product was her GRWM videos. The entrepreneur revealed that she had always talked about “sealing things in” underneath her makeup with a balm or getting “a richer, thicker, balmier moisturizer.” She expressed that the new product was her version of this.
According to Elle, the Rhode Barrier Butter includes numerous nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, murumuru butter, polyglutamic acid, and ceramide NP. Meanwhile, Bieber and her team worked together to ensure that individuals with sensitive skin could also use the product. The product is non-comedogenic and has earned the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association.
Rhode’s Barrier Butter took almost two years to formulate, nailing the required hydration and softness to the skin. Bieber revealed that she didn’t want the product to feel greasy but like a rich and hydrating balm. She continued, “I wanted it to be safe for acne-prone skin and be really good for fine lines and plumping and hydrating the skin.” The model further revealed that it took her a while to approve the product, but it will finally be out on the market this month.
The USP of this product is that it’s multipurpose. Hailey Bieber explained that the Barrier Butter is “not only really good for your face, neck, and chest, but also something that you could use on your hands, arms, and wherever else.” Rhode is launching the product in two sizes: the little 1.35 oz ($22) and the big 5 oz. ($38). Elle reported that the model wanted to launch a smaller version of the product so that people could easily slip it into their purses.
