Katy Perry Flaunts QR Code Tattoo in Back-Baring Tattered Dress at VMAs

Katy Perry’s wet black carpet look for the 2024 MTV VMAs in a back-baring tattered dress included a surprise element — a QR code tattoo on her lower back. Many fans speculate that the QR is possibly a link to her new album, “143.” Alongside debuting her latest tattoo, Perry donned a bold attire to the event held at UBS Arena in New York City, where she received the special Video Vanguard Award. The singer attended the award show with her finacé and baby daddy, Orlando Bloom.

On Wednesday, Katy Perry walked the VMAs black carpet, revealing her unique QR code tattoo on her lower back. The singer has always shown a tendency to make risqué and daring public appearances, making the bold unveiling somewhat expected. Perry revealed her new tattoo while sporting a creamy, bare-back, tattered, two-piece outfit from Who Decides War. She also sported a wet look to flaunt her new tattoo at the event.

Reportedly, Katy Perry’s “fake” QR code tattoo links to a pre-save website for her upcoming album, “143,” which debuts on September 20. The “Dark Horse” singer arrived at the VMAs with her finacé, Orlando Bloom, and subsequently performed a melange of her all-time hits days before her album release. It includes her two smash singles, “Woman’s World” and “LIFETIMES,” which she dropped in the last few months, teasing what’s coming in her upcoming album.

In addition to her dauntless choice of attire and tattoo, Katy Perry gave a feisty acceptance speech while accepting the special award. She stated, “One of the biggest reasons I’m standing here right now is because I learned how to block out all of the noise.” The five-time VMA winner advised the younger generation of musicians to “do whatever it takes to stay true to yourself and true to your art. Turn off social media, safeguard your mental health. Pause. Touch grass.” She asked them to do “what you were born to do, just like I was born to do this.”

Perry last attended the VMAs in 2017 as the event’s host and performer.
