“Maria” star Angelina Jolie stepped out at the biopic movie’s photo call on August 29, 2024, at the 81st Venice Film Festival, wearing a backless and sleeveless black column gown with a high-neck from Atelier Jolie. The simple yet elegant dress looked stunning on her. It also flaunted her unique set of tattoos in photos from the event.

InStyle reported that Angelina Jolie’s distinctive tattoo collection on her back includes Buddhist blessings for peace, love, and prosperous life, which are written in yantra style. The particular tattoo on her back’s left side is a Buddhist spell for protection, according to Hello! Magazine. She dedicated it to Maddox, her adopted son. The magazine further reported that the three body arts in the center of her back represent the classical elements of water, earth, fire, and air, as well as four continents.

Apart from showing off her detailed inkings, the actress’ gorgeous black gown also featured a gold Cartier Panthère brooch. It once belonged to Maria Callas, the famous opera singer who Angelina Jolie portrays in the movie “Maria.” While talking about the precious accessory, the actress said to Vogue, “You can imagine how special it was to wear a piece of jewelry that was hers.”

Directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight, “Maria” also stars Valeria Golino, Pierfrancesco Favino, Haluk Bilginer, and Alba Rohrwacher, among others.
