As announced back in June, and rocking the fashion industry (as well as theFashionSpot forums) to its core, Edward Enninful is set to move on, and up, at Condé Nast. The celebrated editor is exiting his position as editor-in-chief of British Vogue, following a remarkable six-year tenure, to become Vogue‘s global creative and cultural advisor (a newly-created role within the company), following the completion of his final and highly-anticipated issue as editor come March 2024.
Names like Sarah Harris (presently British Vogue‘s deputy editor and fashion features director) and Vanessa Kingori (currently the magazine’s publishing director) had been suggested as Enninful’s replacement. Rumors even began to swirl that Anna Wintour was house hunting within the British capital, suggesting that Wintour was moving across the pond to oversee the magazine once again.
True to speculation over the past few days, however, Chioma Nnadi is to take the top job at the 107-year-old fashion bible. The London-born editor of Nigerian and Swiss-German descent, who began her career as a features writer at London’s Evening Standard Magazine before heading to New York, ultimately arrived at Vogue in 2010 and climbed the ranks to become editor of Vogue.com. Returning to London to edit British Vogue, Nnadi is the first Black female to take charge of the storied publication.
