Hailey Baldwin Makes Her Design Debut, Because of Course

These days, the mark of a truly successful model is a design credit. In recent years we’ve seen more and more brands releasing capsule collections of clothes and accessories with famous faces in order to capitalize on their social media clout and signature style. Think: Karlie Kloss for Frame, Joan Smalls for True Religion, Cara Delevingne for DKNY, Kendall (and Kylie) for Nordstrom and Pacsun, Gigi Hadid for Tommy Hilfiger and many, many more.

Following in the footsteps of her besties Kendall and Gigi, Hailey Baldwin, face of Guess and Tommy Hilfiger, big-name runway show walker and keeper of more than 6.5 million Instagram followers, has added the coveted designer notch to her belt. The Instagirl just announced her collaboration with Australian luxury leather goods label The Daily Edited.

Now available for pre-order, Hailey’s line features a range of customizable leather accessories, including a backpack (large enough to carry a 13-inch MacBook), a similarly capacious tote, a bucket bag, a clutch, a passport holder and a cosmetics case. Shoppers can affix their initials or the emoji of choice to their #theHAILEYedited (as the collection is called) purchase. Prices range from $79.95 AUS ($59.79 US) for a storm gray perforated passport holder to $329.95 AUS ($246.77 US) for a black crocodile print or mist gray structured backpack. While the knapsacks and clutches don’t exactly scream “Hailey,” they’re timeless pieces that we can imagine the 19-year-old (and her fans) jet-setting around the world with season in and season out. The IMG signee reportedly describes her token aesthetic as “simple and practical” and the collection is just that.

In a short spot accompanying the line, Hailey talks about her aspirations for the future: “I don’t plan on sticking in this industry for years upon years. I want to settle down and have a family and a normal life,” holds the model, who only spends about one or two weeks out of every five months at home, due to her demanding schedule. She also shouts out her aforementioned model squad: “Finding those people that will ride or die for you no matter what and have your back are the most important people to have around you.” So true.
