Thanks to Steve Harvey’s epic slip-up at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, the event has re-entered our minds for the first time since Aussie Jennifer Hawkins won back in 2004.
It’s probably a good thing, really, considering there are still some very prominent gender stereotypes afloat at this event that need to be discussed, and, according to Chloë Grace Moretz, changed completely.
The young actress tweeted throughout Miss Universe 2015, expressing her concerns on how women were portrayed. From suggesting the swimsuit section be removed completely (goodbye, male viewers) to divvying out different ways to judge the crowning, check out what 18-year-old had to say in her twitter spiel below.
Miss universe is still judging women walking around in bathing suits. If it’s based on confidence, why r we zooming in on their bodies?..

And on a side note.. They just asked these young women “Who’s more boy crazy?”

On top of it all, the host keeps overtly sexualizing the young women. What is happening on tv right now ..

Let’s do a miss universe based on interviews and public speaking and philanthropic tenacity
