Although her last name might suggest otherwise, Conchita Wurst is the best, and the international sensation is bringing her all-round greatness to Sydney next year for a one-night Mardi Gras event.
Dubbed “Conchita: From Vienna with Love”, the Eurovision winner will make her Sydney debut at the Sydney Opera House on the night of March 3, 2016, alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Conchita will also be joined on-stage by Mardi Gras ambassador and drag diva Courtney Act, cabaret performers Paul Capsis and Trevor Ashley, and a “surprise guest”, according to the official press release.
The bearded lady will perform songs from her debut self-titled album, plus music from artists like Shirley Bassey and Cher, who have inspired her along the way. She explains that the upcoming gig will definitely be a “highlight” of her career, saying “From Vienna with Love will build a bridge across the globe from Vienna to Sydney, full of music, love and fun.”
Nick Jonas, Delta Goodrem, The Presets, Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Adam Lambert, Calvin Harris and Kelly Rowland are just some of the big names who have performed during Sydney’s Mardi Gras festivities over the years, and we’re equally, if not more excited for Conchita’s inevitable domination on our shores.
Tickets for Conchita’s show are available here from today, November 18, with prices starting at $62.
