Calvin Harris has found himself in an online feud with former-One Direction star Zayn Malik by rushing to girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s defence.
It all began when 22-year-old Zayn retweeted a post, which suggested that Taylor was being a little, well, greedy by not releasing her music on streaming services like Spotify.
“[People] can still listen to my music if they get it on iTunes,” Taylor’s quote to Time magazine read on the post. “I’m always up for trying something. And I tried it and I didn’t like the way it felt. I think there should be an inherent value placed on art.”
Taylor’s “inherent” thoughts were essentially laughed at in the post through a comparison to the relaxed attitude of Miley Cyrus.
“You know, I’ve made my money. If no one buys my album, cool. It’s fine. I’ve got a house, and I’ve got dogs that I love. I don’t need anything else,” read Miley’s quote, which was placed alongside Taylor’s for maximum effect.
It wasn’t long before 31-year-old Calvin stepped up to defend Taylor, tweeting to Zayn, “You’ve made your money? Cool…fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em.”

If u don’t get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry…

Calvin went on to suggest that Taylor is using her “celebrity” to stand up for other musicians who might not have a voice as loud as hers, before things got personal.
“While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there’s some poor fucker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive,” Calvin tweeted, probably referring to Zayn’s 1D days. Is now a good time for someone to tell him about Harry Styles and bae Tay?

Anyway, Zayn was all like, “Ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate,” and “You clearly didn’t understand what I just said either.” Then he looked to his inner-douche and said, “I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out.”

Clearly having had enough of someone almost a decade his junior (Zayn, not Taylor), Calvin wrapped things up with what we’re assuming was a good dose of piss-off sarcasm.
@zaynmalik all good, it was the quote not you personally mate

@zaynmalik best of luck, genuinely. You’ve got a great voice

“All good, it was the quote not you personally mate,” the DJ wrote. “Best of luck, genuinely. You’ve got a great voice.” So genuine.
Segway: Zayn’s ex-fiancée Perrie Edwards and Little Mix joined Taylor on-stage for her “1989” tour in Santa Clara over the weekend. Call it a coincidence, but public digs are usually calculated.
