Giles Deacon ‘Couldn’t Be Happier’ with Cate Blanchett’s Red-Carpet Moment at Cannes

Ever-ethereal Australian beauty Cate Blanchett has wowed us all, wearing a custom-made creation from independent British designer Giles Deacon at Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 17. The actress looked effortlessly dazzling in the gown, and designer Giles is pretty chuffed that Cate made such an impact in his namesake label.

Giles said he “couldn’t be happier” with how the dress, which took between 3 weeks and a month to create, has been received on Cate, explaining to the The Telegraph UK that it’s “the most wonderful advert you can probably get”.

Giles Deacon took a step away from his ready-to-wear looks to create the one-of-a-kind Tudor inspired gown for Cate. He created the abstract motif using digital manipulation, which brought this voluminous and eye-catching masterpiece to life.

Cate, who is promoting her latest film, Carol, at the Cannes Film Festival, appeared to float down the red carpet. She opted for minimal accessories, a modest pair of diamond earrings and had her hair pulled back in a simple chignon style which let the dress take the spotlight.

When the 46-year-old Oscar winner decided to represent the label, the designer commented, “She’s got the pick of the world and she chose us. I couldn’t be happier”. Neither could we, and we think we speak for anyone who saw this magic unveil itself on the red carpet.

Cate, you can do no wrong.
