First organic baby powder, now bling. Jessica Alba is teaming up with jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer on a capsule collection due to hit Gilt today. The two have created a pair of necklaces, naturally, for a good cause. The pieces are both gold heart necklaces, one done in 8k gold with a simple pendant and the other, an 18k gold version, festooned with rubies.
Jessica and Jennifer’s designs were created to benefit the Global Fund through Bono’s (RED) foundation, which raises money to help the fight against AIDS. Buying one of these necklaces will help HIV positive pregnant mothers by giving them enough medicine for nine or 27 months to keep them from passing on the virus to their babies.
The 8k necklace rings in at $280, while the ruby-encrusted one is going for $980. The prices are a trifle compared to the value of the medication these women need to make sure their children grow up healthy.
The pair fêted the launch of the range yesterday, an affair that was attended by the likes of Kerry Washington, Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims and more.
The necklaces go on sale at noon today at Gilt.com.
