After February, New York City’s fashion set is going to have to find a new place to show their collections. New York Fashion Week just got evicted from its home in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park. According to blog A Walk in the Park, a court has ruled that designers will have to take their silk charmeuse and scram, asserting that private events like Fashion Week have destroyed the park over the years. Thanks to a court settlement, NYFW will no longer be allowed to renew its contract with Lincoln Center, and come September, the event will have to find a new home.
As for Fashion Week’s new location — that remains to be seen. We’ll definitely be keeping our ears to the ground in coming months to see what solutions IMG will come up with. Perhaps somewhere near Condé Nast’s new headquarters downtown? As for Damrosch Park, the location will be getting a facelift as part of the settlement.
