The Duchess of Cambridge and Emilia Jardine-Paterson, an interior designer and little Prince George’s new Godmother, have been friends since they were 13. It’s being reported that Jardine-Paterson has been responsible for all of Kate’s public outfits for the past few months, and had some input on Kate’s fashion choices before that.
“Kate admires Emilia’s style,” a source told Grazia. “Emilia has become increasingly important to her and Kate always uses her as a sounding board. Emilia is trying to move Kate away from the Middleton neutral palate and push her towards colour or pattern. Emilia loves vintage and tries to get Kate to be a bit more quirky. When they were at school she used to tease Kate about her prim Jigsaw shirts and hated those fur gilets [vests] Kate wore.”
It makes sense that with the birth of Prince George, Kate would need more help managing things like her wardrobe for public events. Jardine-Paterson is being credited with Middleton’s stunning Alexander McQueen skirt and jacket for the Christening. She is also reportedly advising on the redecoration of Kensington Palace for the new little family.
Her personal style seems to include lots of color and interesting prints, so we’d love to see that rub off on Kate.
