Nicolas Ghesquière to Show First Collection for Louis Vuitton in March

Immediately after Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton announced the American designer’s departure from the French fashion house, Nicolas Ghesquière was pegged as Jacobs’ most likely successor. Speculation was initially frenzied, but then died down after the rumor was falsely (and perhaps embarrassingly) confirmed a month ago. Finally today, luxury conglomerate LVMH confirms (to WWD) that the former head of Balenciaga has been named artistic director of womenswear at Louis Vuitton, effective immediately. Ghesquière will show his first collection for the house in March.
