Hedi Slimane’s Directorial Debut for Saint Laurent is Lovely [Video]

Hedi Slimane made a dance movie, his first film for Saint Laurent. Featuring the label’s new line of Ballerina flats and starring house favorite Lida Fox, who dances to an original compostion by Clementine Creevy from Cherry Glazerr, the film mashes together the light, elegant aesthetic associated with traditional Saint Laurent codes and the hipper, harder California grunge direction set by Slimane in his controversial role as designer for the fashion label. Filmed in an open, airy New York City loft space in black and white, the video may not persuade you to adopt a leather bandeau top as a new wardrobe staple, but it’s the most convincing expression of Slimane’s vision for the house I’ve seen to date.
