GIVENCHY AND BALENCIAGA GO ARCHIVAL

Where to start in a week when so many exciting special designer collections have been announced? First off, we had Givenchy’s current creative director, Riccardo Tisci (who has been the brunt of some not so stellar reviews) saying that he will be building on some of the house of Givenchy’s classic styles to create a new capsule collection for the famed French atelier. The collection will be sold under the label Redux.

The Redux pieces will be shown twice a year, alongside Givenchy’s pre-collection looks.  The first pieces will be available from October onwards, as they will be delivered a month before the pre-collections hit. Vogue was able to get some inside scoop on the collection. The plans are to take the house’s iconic white blouse and studs and use them as a base to create leather jackets, dresses, and accessories “with a contemporary Tisci twist; think long-sleeved and sleeveless styles with pin-tucking, ruffles and appliqué details.”

Can’t bear waiting until October for some specially revamped duds? Head to Paris!  From September 11th through October 5th, France’s swank department store Le Bon Marche will be selling another collection of Balenciaga Edition. The limited edition collection is made up of a range of Cristobel Balenciaga archival pieces that have been revamped and re-thought out using modern techniques by now-creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere.
