NEW DIGS FOR TEMPERLEY

Despite the gloomy weather wreaking havoc on sales at swanky Hampton shops, Temperley London will be opening a pop-up store in posh East Hampton, N.Y., on Friday, June 19th. The store is 1,650 square feet and is located at 53 The Circle, where it will remain until December – months after the summer crowds have dissipated.

Aesthetically, the boutique mirrors the British company’s boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Dubai.  It will carry the 2009 cruise, spring, and pre-fall collections as well as accessories. To fete the opening, a party will be held on July 18th hosted by Temperley, along with model and Hampton-staple Christy Turlington.

The East Hampton pop-up shop is not the first for Temperley. The designer recently opened a temporary boutique next to the lobby of the Sanderson hotel in London. That store will remain open through July 5th and some pieces have already been discounted by as much as 50 percent. When speaking about the London pop-up store, the designer said that everything was chosen so that hotel guests or walk-in shoppers could come in and find something “either to wear that night or wherever their summer takes them.”

Besides these two shops, Temperely has opened a temporary location at the private members club Shoreditch House in East London, and last summer she had a shop in Ibiza were employees went to private homes with specific looks customers had requested to see.

In other fashion real estate news, Brian Reyes has just signed a five year lease for a new 4,700 square foot office space at 304 Hudson Street in Hudson Square where, among others, Pierre Roguier and Atelier, also have offices. The new offices, which are about four times the size of their old digs, tie into the great expansion of Reyes brand over the last year.  This is an impressive feat given all the fashion business suffering from the economy.
