Nicole Richie is expanding – and we’re not talking about the soon to be mother of two’s waist. While for the most part celebrity fashion ventures haven’t amounted to much, Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow has been surprisingly successful. The reality star and daughter of Lionel Richie has just inked a multi-product, multi-year licensing agreement with manufacturers Rick and Brian Cytrynbaum.
Rick Cytrynbaum, along with Brian, owns a number of brands including Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans and has said that Richie has had complete creative control throughout the whole design process.
Nicole Richie’s line has not yet been named, but it is slated to debut for the Spring 2010 season and will include footwear, apparel, bags, sunglasses, belts and other small accessories. Rich Cytrynbaum told FN that Nicole is designing everything herself and that she’s completely devoted to the line. Cytrynbaum plans on creating a whole lifestyle around Richie’s aesthetic and what is true to her, adding that “Nicole Richie is by far one of America’s biggest fashion icons right now. We’re investing millions into this brand. This is like nothing out there right now.”
Interestingly enough much of Richie’s aesthetic seems to be pulled from the signature style of her once-nemesis, Rachel Zoe’s.
Richie’s contemporary-priced line is slated to debut at FFANY in New York.
