Is Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester trying to distance herself from her uber preppy counterpart Blair Waldorf? Meester is slated to be the face of Reebok’s new lifestyle collection – a very un-Waldorf line, to say the least.
When asked about the choice, a Reebok spokesperson noted that Meester was chosen because she is the ultimate city girl and that the shoes she will be representing are perfect for the modern urban woman. The spokesperson added that the trainers feature “Reebok’s characteristic comfort and premium material use coupled with a fresh, adaptable look.”
Whether or not the pairing makes sense with Meester’s current image, she certainly seems poised to attract a new following to the line and is, to say the least, in good company with previous Reebok faces including Scarlett Johansson and Agyness Deyn who both modeled for the new Reebok Top Down design.
For her part Meester – who is set to front another Reebok campaign in mid-May – has already been spotted in Reebok Top Downs when she wore them to their launch party. She paired them with a Phillip Lim dress.
Top Down, which are credited with being the first trainers to be marketed at women back in the eighties, can be worn as hi tops or folded down to show off the trainer’s lining.
