Actress Anne Hathaway and actor James Franco are set to co-host the next Academy Awards!
The surprising duo was reportedly selected to draw in a younger audience. Anne is not only under pressure to perform hosting duties, but also to look fabulous doing so, and she’ll likely go through several wardrobe changes during the broadcast. Here are just a few ideas for possible gowns the statuesque actress might wear.
GLAM
Anne loves Valentino, so it only makes sense she’ll seek out a fiery couture option. This bodice-fitted red number is elegant, but also delightfully feminine thanks to the pseudo-tulip bottom. Although Prabal Gurung may not be a name often heard on the red carpet, the label’s saffron dress would look sensational on the Love & Other Drugs star.
J. Mendel‘s neutral pick mixes whimsy with sophistication, and just imagine how gracefully it would move as the hostess criss-crosses the stage! If Anne is thinking black is a viable option, the far-from-basic rosette-embellished gown by John Galliano might be perfect. There are some goth undertones present, but the overall effect is pure high-end drama.
GLOW
Glitzy metallics are always an Oscar staple. Jenny Packham‘s shiny dress features elegant draping that would only enhance Anne’s enviable figure. Mixing multiple metallic hues provides an interesting contrast; Elie Saab designed a sparkly green dress that would also make an excellent Oscar dress option.
GUTSY
She got the gig because of her presumed appeal to a younger crowd, so Anne should play up her youthful side in something seriously hip. The late Alexander McQueen always knew how to simultaneously shock and awe. The jet-black brocade mini is not exactly typical award season attire, but Anne could pull it off. What’s not to love about violet? Especially when Marc Jacobs adds a floral-inspired sash to the left shoulder.
And let’s not forget about James. He should host wearing an elegant tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana.
