Marc Jacobs Models Risked Their Lives in Towering High Heels

Already one of the most celebrated designers at New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs now has the distinction of sending the highest heels down the runway. Ever. For his Fall 2016 show, models graced the catwalk in vertiginous platforms at least three stories high.

Despite walking in stilts, the cast, which included Lady Gaga and Kendall Jenner, managed to walk in their stilts, ahem, shoes without falling. A true Fashion Week feat. Thankfully, Jacobs let them practice before the show began. Not sure how long it would take to master walking on top of cinder blocks, but I digress.

Lady Gaga, of course, is no stranger to balancing in dangerously high heels, wearing 10-inch Alexander McQueen heels for a Grammys performance in 2010. Yes, she moved around and sang in those heels. Of Marc Jacobs’ platforms, she revealed backstage: “I told Marc I was disappointed the shoes weren’t taller.” WHET.

We’re convinced there’s nothing she can’t do, and so is Jacobs. He not only cast her in his Fall 2016 show, he also outfitted Gaga for her red carpet tribute to David Bowie at the Grammys. The way their friendship is going, we’ll see her traipsing down the streets of New York City in his towering platforms very soon.
