The hills are about to be alive again in Salzburg, this time with the squeaking of designer running shoes on the catwalk. The location for Chanel‘s much-anticipated Métiers d’Art show has been revealed, and Karl Lagerfeld is taking a trip to Austria to show his next collection.
According to Vogue UK, the big event will go down at Leopoldskron Castle, a stunning locale commissioned for the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg’s family in 1736. The location sounds a little random, but Salzburg actually has a strong connection to the Chanel heritage. The house’s famous little black jacket, designed by its founder Coco Chanel, was inspired by a jacket worn by an elevator attendant in Salzburg.
The show promises to be quite a spectacle — Leopoldskron Castle is known for its opulent Rococo decor, so we have a feeling Chanel’s next collection will match the show’s surroundings. Either way, it will definitely be a production…probably with a lot of little black jackets.
