Is Edward Enninful on his way to becoming a one-hit wonder as editor-in-chief of British Vogue? We’re slowly starting to feel that way after his Taylor Swift cover disappointed our forum members and now, the February 2018 cover fails to excite. A stark contrast from last year’s February cover, Enninful gives us two Hollywood actresses: Aussie duo Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman. Photographed by Juergen Teller and styled by Enninful himself, Margot wears Louis Vuitton while Nicole poses in Christian Dior, each wearing a pair of LaCrasia gloves.
It’s safe to say our forum members aren’t buying it. “I don’t like it that much… I don’t like Teller for covers, as his photography is too pedestrian IMO,” said kokobombon straight away.
“Awful. Based on this, Juergen Teller should be shooting mugshots and not Vogue covers,” mocked 333101.
“For crying out loud, this isn’t W, Edward!! I really want to root for him, but not with crap like this!! That background is shameful for a Vogue cover, and combined with the styling it’s all downright garish! NOTHING works here for me, two stunning actresses, but both look just unfortunate on this cover!” Miss Dalloway wrote.
MON wasn’t into the cover either, writing, “Edward is making it so hard for his supporters to defend him. This is tragic. The audacity to use Nicole Kidman as a prop. Also, I’m bothered by the fit of the gloves.”
“This is honestly appalling considering it’s just his third issue as EIC. It all went downhill so fast from Adwoa’s cover,” voiced Style Savvy.
Also quick to disapprove was frk-frost: “You have Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie and it’s award season and this is what you end up with? Epic fail!”
“It’s hilarious how Edward hashtags everything #NEWVOGUE as part of this re-branding effort. New? Bitch where?” quipped orchidee.
