is having an amazing 2017. The beauty bible gave the newsstand some much-needed diversity with its glorious April cover, won us over with Sienna Miller for May and had an instant hit on its hands with a Zoe Kravitz cover last month. Now, for July 2017, the magazine is sure to receive a huge amount of buzz for being the first mainstream American glossy to feature hijab-wearing model Halima Aden on the cover. The Muslim beauty continues to gain momentum within the industry as “destroyer of stereotypes,” fronting Allure‘s bright, bold and beautiful cover for July 2017, photographed by Sølve Sundsbø.

Despite Allure‘s major scoop this month, our forum members felt the cover was missing something. “Something different but not my cup of tea,” wrote DutchHomme upon seeing the cover.
“It’s far too obvious. They could have done something really special, instead they just threw on a basic American looking jacket and put her in front of a camera. Very lazy styling,” discredited forum member GivenchyHomme.
Sharing the same sentiments was KINGofVERSAILLES. “I applaud the decision to feature Halima on the cover but the execution is astonishingly bad. Her Vogue Arabia covers and CR Fashion Book cover were so superior. The styling here is not glamorous, not flattering, not interesting. And her hand dominates the cover,” he pointed out.
Kokobombon wasn’t a fan of the pose either, asking, “WTF is that hand gesture? I guess it works with the tagline but they could have come up with something more fashion-y!”
“Wow, kudos to her for landing an American glossy! I will def be picking this up. I love the cover. If her star rises, I can see her landing another Vogue cover later this year,” heralded RanThe.
“Hooray for Solve!! Once you look past the gimmicks it’s actually a nice beauty cover. Love the gray, and her makeup – that’s all. Not here for the styling of the hand pose!” said Benn98.
