Emmanuelle Alt sure loves a good throwback, tapping 90s supermodel Christy Turlington for Vogue Paris’ latest cover. After last month’s cover star, transgender bombshell Valentina Sampaio, sent shockwaves through the industry (and our forums), French Vogue continues to make bold choices for April 2017. Captured by Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Christy flashes her signature energetic smile while wearing a shocking-pink pleated Valentino Haute Couture number in the electrifying cover photo.

The majority of our forum members couldn’t believe their eyes — and not necessarily in a good way. “Absolute eyesore. Christy looks awful too,” exclaimed a horrified anlabe32 after the cover dropped.
“Such a horrible cover. That dress is so hideous!” stated Scotty.
“What the heck is this? Gift wrap!” DutchHomme mocked.
MON wasn’t much of an admirer either: “An eyesore, from the styling to the colors and font. Total disaster!”
In agreement over how terrible the cover turned out was zacatecas570. “This is hideous, looks very 90s, bad photo, horrible layout! See you next month,” he said in utter shock.
“Gorgeous smile, but the rest is a fiasco. An eye-catcher and eyesore at the same time,” Nymphaea added.
“It’s a good cover! The dress is slightly aggressive on a screen but I think it must be flawless IRL with that glossy paper. It’s good to see a supermodel return on the cover of VP,”
“Given that Christy was already working in the late 80s, this is one of the few times that Alt’s insistence on living in the past seems more authentic,” reasoned tigerrouge.
“Well I’ll take this migraine cover over another Gigi one I suppose,” said Vitamine W.
