made no attempt to hide that models Edie Campbell and Anna Ewers had signed on to star in Versace’s mainline campaign for Spring 2017, posting a series of behind-the-scenes photos featuring the duo while on location in Kentucky. Replacing Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid but continuing to work with photographer Bruce Weber, Edie and Anna roam around a ranch and pose alongside male models and horses — a stark contrast from the Versace collection.

Members of our forums weren’t a fan of the concept. “So, clearly, this is not Versace. The two individual shots with Edie are take it or leave it for me — just meh. However, the one with Anna and Edie could not have been more stiff if they tried. Anna, especially, looks like she’s never modeled in her life. And her neck looks like she’s a football player,” MyNameIs critiqued at once.
“Versace in Kentucky? A mess. This is truly awful,” Scotty exclaimed in a state of shock.
In agreement was Benn98: “Can someone retire Bruce Weber already? Because let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have this ‘new Versace’ if it wasn’t for him. Donatella is trying to copy Gucci’s recipe, and it won’t work. The shots are bad, an utter waste of Edie and Anna.”
Narcyza was in the same boat, asking, “Where is Versace here?”
“It’s not as bad as I thought it would be although my expectations were already pretty low. Versace’s new direction isn’t working for me. The collections are boring and the ads reflect that. She had a hit with Spring 2016 and Steven Klein made that collection sing in the campaign. This, however, is depressing,” GivenchyHomme wrote.
“I kinda like the images, but the horses are stealing the spotlight and Weber is not a good fit for Versace,” said kokobombon, agreeing with everyone else.
